Katherine doesn’t recognize the conditions that are preventing her from achieving her goals and she leaves Wellesley School. She can finally convince her students, including Betty to look beyond social models and traditions.
The functionalist hypothesis is that society can be viewed as being a machine, which is composed of parts each of which has a unique ability to create the vitality needed to keep society running. It is guaranteed that in a practical society, the schools should not only be responsible for instilling in their students some moral qualities, but they also need to encourage social cohesion.
The struggle hypothesis is a theory that ensures the schools are working for the greater group of people. Understudy’s political interests are shaped by tutoring, which also teaches them about the laws and regulations of the society. Schools help their students fit into the social norms of today and become a part in political, social and financial structures.
